On behalf of the Department of Health, it is my great pleasure to welcome all of you joining us on November 14 and 15 at the 2012 Taiwan Health Forum in Taipei.
This year¡¦s theme is Public Health Perspectives in a Changing World to reflect important health issues in the era of globalization. The Forum will focus on Knowledge to Practice in Public Health and on Global Partnerships for Health that can decrease the burden of disease. A Round Table Discussion explores best practices in international cooperation and health personnel training.
Given this year¡¦s group of experts, stakeholders and policy-makers, we are certain that these discussions will yield useful insights on sustainable public health involving international collaborations to improve health systems around the world. This event is bound to be more fruitful because of your ideas and experiences. I wish to thank more than 200 internationally renowned health experts, NGO leaders and global public officials from over 30 countries for making the Taiwan Health Forum a consistent success since its inauguration in 2005.
With your help it will continue as a platform for international exchange and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. As your participation will certainly strengthen these efforts, I welcome you to take an active part in this year¡¦s Forum, and hope you will have a pleasant stay in Taiwan.
With best wishes,
Wen-Ta Chiu, M.D., Ph.D.
Minister, Department of Health,
R.O.C. (Taiwan)
